Sunny Lambe was born in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria on 28
June 1959. He is the founder and managing director of SAL Associates
Ltd and executive director of Black Business Initiative (BBI). He is a
community leader, publisher of Ethno
News magazine and a business management consultant with over 20
years experience ranging from general business management, advice,
guidance, lectureships, and consultancy services covering public,
private and community/voluntary sectors (social enterprises).
Sunny has worked on numerous government initiatives and
projects such as the New Deal Self Employment Option, Neighbourhood
Renewal Initiatives, European Social Fund, Neighbourhood Nurseries
Initiatives, and many others. He has also been associated with a number
of projects with community benefits such as CAP UK, Southwark Black
Heritage Organisation, Southwark Youth Enterprise Project (SYEP) and
many others.
Sunny also volunteers his time and skills to a number of
community activities such school governorships, once chair of the
Church of England Camberwell Deanery Synod and member of the Board
Finance, Vice Chair of Southwark Alliance Enterprise Partnership Board,
chair of Southwark Black History Month for many years, member of
governing bodies of some local schools, colleges and many more.
On 13 May 2006, Sunny became a recipient of Southwark
Civic Award ‘Honorary Liberty of the Old Metropolitan Borough of
Camberwell’ awarded by Southwark Council for his contributions to the
borough. He was also a finalist in the Gathering of African Best (GAB) Awards
2006, European Federation of Black Women in Business Awards 2007, and
UK Black One Hundred Celebrity Photographic Exhibition 2007 organised
by the University of the Arts, London College of Communications 2007.
In 2007, SLYEG (Sunny Lambe Youth Enterprise Game), a
“making it happen for me” enterprise competition targeted at young
adults between ages 16 and 30 across UK with entrepreneurial ambition
was launched for the economic empowerment of young people in Britain.
